looking to the future

I was feeling rundown by the time my Zoom meeting with one of my social clients rolled around. I love this client, but I dreaded having to smile, sound chipper, and y’know do the whole communication dance. When she came on she looked fabulous because she always does and I had my haven’t-been-washed-in-a-week hair pulled back with no makeup while wearing my Led Zeppelin shirt. We discussed a marketing plan for her new book and even though the meeting lasted two hours, I felt so refreshed afterwards. I love hearing people talk about their passions and their dreams. She was lit up with excitement for the future and that made me so happy.

Lately when I think of the future it looks murky and there’s a sort of heaviness to it, but making plans with her brought this beautiful light to everything, both in vision and in feeling. I imagine I’m not the only one who has found it hard to look to the future right now. It takes strength and hope and truly is an act of faith.

Whether or not you’ve been struggling, I’d love to hear one thing you’re looking forward to. It could be something tomorrow, or a decade from now. Something small or something grand. Just something, anything.
