there is sorrow in all of us

If you’ve ever met someone or have scrolled through someone’s Instagram feed and thought, “I wish I had their life” take a moment to remember that there is sorrow in all of us. Most of us don’t know the darkness that lies within the lives of others. All of the below are truths from people I know who just from their feed look happy, successful, and like they’re living the dream. And maybe they are, but keep in mind the struggle and trauma they’ve had to push through or are still dealing with... ⁣

-her mom loves her sister more than her⁣
-her brother killed himself⁣
-his wife left him ⁣
-she has an autoimmune disease and it literally hurts to smile⁣
-she lives in a building with bullet holes in the walls ⁣
-her mom mentally and emotionally abuses her⁣
-she’s had two miscarriages and is still trying⁣
-her mom has cancer⁣
-his father molested him and he developed schizophrenia ⁣
-her mother tried to kill herself⁣
-her mom hates that she’s gay⁣
-she lost her dream job⁣

I don’t share all this to bring you down. Only to remind you that there’s always more going on beneath the surface. Don’t compare. Be kind, to yourself and to others. Give grace, to yourself and to others.
